Western House

BRANKSOME PARK

In 2006 Moxey designed and built the internationally acclaimed and multi-award winning Western House in Branksome Park, Poole. Drawing on the influences of American modernist architects Frank LLoyd Wright, Richard Neutra and Craig Elwood we fused West Coast lifestyle with British elegance and refinement. The horizontal roof planes are echoed by landscaped terraces paved in flame-textured Jura limestone and by reflecting pools set in rough hewn local Purbeck stone which descend through the site. Into one terrace, is set a twelve metre lap pool.

The property is set in a conservation area, characterised by substantial houses dating from the turn of the last century, only glimpsed through the pines and rhododendrons which enclose their large plots. The house is split over five levels and includes 5 bedrooms, open plan kitchen/ dining/ family living area, drawing room, study, cinema, and studio suite, four car garaging and utility rooms. Western House was ahead of the times in terms of design in UK and as a result won a Daily Mail Award for Best UK Property, Telegraph for Best Luxury Home and Best Landscaping and was even a CNBC World’s Best Property Finalist!
